How we met
Ronnie likes to answer this with “Farmer’s Only” – here’s the real story.
It was Labor Day weekend and Ronnie had “Super Liked” me on Tinder. His opening line asked about my skills at Harry Potter Trivia. On Monday, I asked if he wanted to go thrifting. When we got to the store, to everyone’s surprise, it was closed because… Labor Day. We quickly changed plans and decided to get Sobelman’s burgers where I impressed Ronnie by quickly inhaling the whole thing. Not quite ready to say goodbye, we headed to a rooftop bar to people watch, take in the sunset, and sip fancy cocktails. We walked along the riverfront and the jury’s out on who made the reach to hold hands first.
The proposal
Hanging Rock has been a place that I have enjoyed and quickly became one that Kaila liked too. It was the place that we would go every year to hike and no matter how difficult the climb, we always made it to the top and took a photo. This place has been memorable to us from the beginning, so proposing here made it extra special.
This hike was different though —
My best friend and his fiancé (now WIFE) was hiding up top, waiting to take our photos.
This was the first time I trusted Kaila to lead us up the mountain.
We were going to come back down the mountain engaged.
I usually lead the way for us but couldn’t this time in order to hide the ring in my back pocket. Thank goodness Kaila didn’t notice until we got near the top, but I managed to play it off.
Once we got to our usual spot we were setting up the photo and it was a little awkward this time trying to balance the phone while also not giving away the surprise. Luckily a nice stranger offered to take our picture. Kaila being the good samaritan she is, returned the favor. This was the perfect distraction for me to prepare.
The wind was also on my side, as she was fixing her hair I dropped to one knee before she turned back around. I proposed to my best friend and she doesn’t even remember what I said, but all that matters is that she said “Yes!”
“
This hike was different though because we were going to come down the mountain engaged.”

Why Asheville?
Rather than picking a venue for one day, we’d rather create an experience for our wedding. An opportunity to bring everyone together to make memories for not just an evening, but for a weekend.
Every time that we take a trip to North Carolina to visit friends and family, we find ourselves sneaking away for a day in the mountains of Asheville. Each time finding something new whether it be hiking, bopping around town, or just relaxing.
It’s also the place where we first said “I love you.”
We’re so excited to share a place that we love with all of the people that we love!
